I make my living with my motorbike. 10 weeks ago the gearbox failed, and the mechanic says the repair will cost $450. Without the vehicle I earn nothing. I have been borrowing from friends to pay rent, and now I have run out of people to ask. I support my younger brothers and sisters. Before the breakdown I worked nine hours a day, six days a week. I have been offered extra shifts for the next three months if I can just get the vehicle working. I have a written estimate from a certified mechanic and will upload it here. All money will go toward the parts and labor on the estimate, with a small amount for road tax and insurance renewal. Where the $450 goes: • gearbox replacement (parts): $270 • Labor charges: $90 • Road tax and insurance renewal: $50 • Towing and inspection: $40 If you're reading this, thank you. - Vanessa

  • I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Greetings from Kampala

    • Hope things get better soon, Vanessa. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Thinking of Belo Horizonte.

      • hope things get better soon. Looking forward to the next update. Don't be hard on yourself for asking

        • keep going. This could happen to any of us. After 12 years in engineering I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Thinking of Belo Horizonte
