The electricity account is 4 months behind. Uzma received a disconnection notice that says service will be cut off on August unless $100 is paid. She had never been late before a reduction in hours. Uzma called the provider and asked about a payment plan, but they need a down payment of $20 first, which isn't available. The household includes a parent on oxygen therapy, and going through winter without electricity isn't safe. Without it we can't refrigerate insulin and food, or keep the house at a safe temperature. Uzma is working on getting back on her feet, and wants to pay it forward once steady. Every dollar goes to the account in Uzma's name; a copy of the paid bill will be shared in the updates. Where the $100 goes: • Electricity arrears: $45 • Reconnection and late fees: $15 • Down payment on a payment plan: $40 Thanks for reading all this.

  • Hope this works out for you. My neighbor had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Thinking of Rawalpindi.

    • Hang in there. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I have a 5 year old who wants to send good wishes too

      • Hope things get better soon, Bilal. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I hope August is when things finally get easier. Love from Jakarta Barat.
