Upul was diagnosed with cervical cancer in July. The oncology team at Colombo Regional Medical Center has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in October. He will be away from work for about 5 weeks. Upul is 43, worked as a cleaner at a hospital until July, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Colombo Regional Medical Center 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $2,050 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,450 • Scans and lab work: $320 • Transport to Colombo Regional Medical Center: $75 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $85 • Household costs while unable to work: $120 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.
