Umesh was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery in May. The surgeon at Kathmandu Regional Medical Center recommended a craniotomy, and He is scheduled for August. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,650, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $1,000 short. my brother has been in and out of Kathmandu Regional Medical Center since May. The doctors say endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without a craniotomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,650 is more than we can find. While we wait, Umesh struggles with daily life and can't drive. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Umesh won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
