Trupti was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated in December. The surgeon at Mumbai Community Hospital recommended knee replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for March. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $870, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $650 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Mumbai Community Hospital since December. The doctors say a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $870 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Trupti struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Trupti won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
