Ting was diagnosed with cervical cancer in July. The oncology team at Toronto Cancer Centre has planned 4 rounds of treatment, starting in September. She will be away from work for about 4 weeks. Ting is 54, worked as a nurse until July, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Toronto Cancer Centre 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $9,050 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $4,400 • Scans and lab work: $920 • Transport to Toronto Cancer Centre: $1,250 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $450 • Household costs while unable to work: $2,030 Please ask me anything in the questions section.
