Thulani was diagnosed with stomach cancer in July. The oncology team at Richards Bay Regional Medical Center has planned 6 rounds of treatment, starting in October. He will be away from work for about 12 weeks.
Thulani is 47, worked as a bus conductor until July, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Richards Bay Regional Medical Center 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes.
Where the $2,950 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $2,150
• Household costs while unable to work: $620
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $180
