After a herniated spinal disc, Tariq was cleared for valve repair surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Tariq was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc in August. The surgeon at Saint Francis Hospital recommended valve repair surgery, and He is scheduled for December. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,050, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $850 short. my son has been in and out of Saint Francis Hospital since August. The doctors say a herniated spinal disc will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,050 is more than we can find. While we wait, Tariq struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Tariq won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $850 goes: • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $50 • Hospital stay (4 nights): $280 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $480 • Travel and lodging for the family: $40 Thank you so much. - Yasmin
