Fatema, my mother, passed away on 6 October after a long fight with kidney disease. She was 55 years old. She was the heart of our family and had no savings or life insurance.
The funeral home has given us a quote of $500 and the cemetery needs payment before the burial date of 11 October.
I have already used what I had for the hospital bills. My family is scattered, and many of us are out of work. We want Fatema to have a dignified farewell.
Any help at all means a lot, and so do your prayers.
Anything left over after the funeral will be donated to a neighborhood youth program.
Where the $500 goes:
• Transport of the deceased: $25
• Funeral home services and casket: $410
• Memorial gathering for the family: $65
