Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Thursday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 9 families, and now we feed 225 each week. Donations have dropped by about 48% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 19 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Granada market and keep every receipt. Each $40 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $1,800 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,050 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $360 • Baby formula and diapers: $280 • Refrigeration and electricity: $110 Thank you for reading my story.

Updates from Susana

  1. Update from Granada: I met with the wholesaler and confirmed the amounts. We're at 13% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  2. Update from Granada: the first invoice got paid this week. We're at 13% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us. - Susana

  3. Thank you all. We're at 5% now ($85). I'm honestly stunned. I made the first payment toward fresh vegetables and fruit.

hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. God bless.
