Help Smit with an overdue gas bill before the cold months

The gas account is 4 months behind. Smit received a disconnection notice that says service will be cut off on June unless $100 is paid. He had never been late before losing my job in February. Smit called the provider and asked about a payment plan, but they need a down payment of $20 first, which isn't available. The household includes three children under ten, and going through the cold months without gas isn't safe. We can't cook, keep medicine cold or heat the home.
