Help Smit keep the the Sunday Shelf pantry stocked
The the Sunday Shelf pantry in Pune is running low just as demand rises; $500 will stock it for 8 weeks.

Since 2021, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Thursday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 26 families, and now we feed 288 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 56% this summer, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 8 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Pune market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $500 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $180
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $120
• Baby formula and diapers: $115
• Refrigeration and electricity: $85

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Smit
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale) comes first ($180) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Good question.
