Shirley was diagnosed with a deviated septum causing chronic infections in August. The surgeon at Ottawa General Hospital recommended ACL reconstruction, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $4,000, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $3,000 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Ottawa General Hospital since August. The doctors say a deviated septum causing chronic infections will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $4,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Shirley struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Shirley won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
