Taguig
Since 2021, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Monday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 8 families, and now we feed 335 each week. Donations have dropped by about 44% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 15 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Taguig market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday. Where the $350 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $155 • Baby formula and diapers: $65 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $130 Thanks for reading all this. - Sheila

  • Hope things get better soon. Your post was clear and honest. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. All the best.

    • More neighborhoods should do this. After 27 years in nursing I know how hard it's to ask for anything.

      • wishing you the best. Hope this works out for you. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. All the best.

        • You're not alone, Sheila. Shared this with my family. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Greetings from Santa Fe.
