Shakil is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying a computer science degree at the Edinburgh Institute of Technology, and is two terms away from graduating. He has worked as a tutor to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $5,000. The registrar has said Shakil can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Shakil has a 3.9 average, and a department head has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Shakil would lose his place and scholarship eligibility. Shakil isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student. The payment will go directly to the the Edinburgh Institute of Technology bursar's office.
