Shaista was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections in August. The surgeon at Faisalabad University Hospital recommended valve repair surgery, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,900, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $950 short. my mother has been in and out of Faisalabad University Hospital since August. The doctors say gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,900 is more than we can find. While we wait, Shaista struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone.
