Seung-woo was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in August. The surgeon at Mapo General Hospital recommended palate reconstruction surgery, and He is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $6,500, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $5,100 short.
my brother has been in and out of Mapo General Hospital since August. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without palate reconstruction surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $6,500 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Seung-woo struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Seung-woo won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
