Butwal
Since 2019, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Sunday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 12 families, and now we feed 322 each week. Donations have dropped by about 50% this summer, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 15 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Butwal market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $400 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $210 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $75 • Baby formula and diapers: $65 • Refrigeration and electricity: $50 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure. - Sanjay

  • So sorry you're going through this. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Thinking of Butwal.

    • Rooting for you, Sanjay. I hope things turn around soon. I went through something like this 9 years ago and strangers helped me out. Blessings.
