Since 2019, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Monday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 18 families, and now we feed 288 each week. Donations have dropped by about 40% this summer, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 9 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Thane market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday. Where the $500 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $320 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $80 • Baby formula and diapers: $50 • Refrigeration and electricity: $50 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself. - Sandeep

Updates from Sandeep

  1. 5% there. we've started the first stage. Thank you. - Sandeep

  2. Quick update: $25 raised so far (5%). we've started the first stage. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

  3. Good news. Because of your gifts ($35 in total) the plan for refrigeration and electricity is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
