Help Samira keep the Open Hands Pantry pantry stocked
Samira runs a volunteer pantry feeding 77 families; this fund restocks shelves for the school holidays.

Since 2023, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Monday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 20 families, and now we feed 77 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 56% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 8 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Fort Worth market and keep every receipt.
Each $50 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $2,650 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,150
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $610
• Baby formula and diapers: $610
• Refrigeration and electricity: $280
