Since 2023, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Saturday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 18 families, and now we feed 214 each week. Donations have dropped by about 30% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 10 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Kisumu market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $600 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $290 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $180 • Baby formula and diapers: $80 • Refrigeration and electricity: $50 If you're reading this, thank you.

Updates from Salim

  1. Small update. $65 so far, I made the first payment toward rice, beans, flour and oil.

  2. Small update. $75 so far, the plan for refrigeration and electricity is now scheduled.

  3. Quick update: $75 raised so far (13%). we've started the first stage. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
