The electricity account is 4 months behind. Saima received a disconnection notice that says service will be cut off on October unless $100 is paid. She had never been late before losing my job in June. Saima called the provider and asked about a payment plan, but they need a down payment of $10 first, which isn't available. The household includes a parent on oxygen therapy, and going through summer without electricity isn't safe. Without it we can't refrigerate insulin and food, or keep the house at a safe temperature. Saima is working on getting back on her feet, and wants to pay it forward once steady. Every dollar goes to the account in Saima's name; a copy of the paid bill will be shared in the updates. Where the $100 goes: • Electricity arrears: $65 • Reconnection and late fees: $10 • Down payment on a payment plan: $25 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure. - Maryam

Wishing you the best, Maryam. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. I'm in retail myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you.

    • Stay strong, Maryam. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My father had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. God bless
