Saba was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated in April. The surgeon at Bahir Dar Orthopedic Institute recommended knee replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for July. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,000, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $750 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Bahir Dar Orthopedic Institute since April. The doctors say a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Saba struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Saba won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
