Runa was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in January. The surgeon at Gazipur General Hospital recommended spinal decompression surgery, and She is scheduled for April. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $860, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $600 short.
my mother has been in and out of Gazipur General Hospital since January. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without spinal decompression surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $860 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Runa struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Runa won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
