When the bakery closed in September, Rose fell 2 months behind on rent. Last Friday a court summons for non-payment was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $150. The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by November, the family must leave. There are three school-aged children at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else. Rose has started working night deliveries, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here. The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done. Where the $150 goes: • First month of rent as a buffer: $65 • Late fees and court costs: $25 • Utilities in arrears: $60 Thank you so much. - Akinyi

      • Rooting for you, Akinyi. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. I went through something like this 6 years ago and strangers helped me out. Take care
