Following a long illness in the family, Rolando fell 2 months behind on rent. Last Tuesday a 10-day notice to quit was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $700. The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by June, the family must leave. There are a toddler and a baby at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else. Rolando has started working evenings as a cleaner, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here. The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done. Where the $700 goes: • First month of rent as a buffer: $180 • Utilities in arrears: $35 • Rent arrears (2 months): $485 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support. - Cris

  • Sending strength, Cris. Hope you get there. Greetings from Gothenburg.

    • Thinking of you and your family. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. After 16 years in construction I know how hard it's to ask for anything

      • Sending strength. I hope things turn around soon. My brother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.

          • Hang in there. Looking forward to the next update. We're a small family in Gatineau but we're thinking of you. Take care.
