Following a long illness in the family, Reem fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Sunday a notice to vacate was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $650. The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by January, the family must leave. There are 4 children at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else. Reem has started working night deliveries, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here. Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent. Where the $650 goes: • Rent arrears (3 months): $470 • Late fees and court costs: $50 • Utilities in arrears: $40 • First month of rent as a buffer: $90 Thanks for reading all this.

        • good luck, Amir. Hope you get there. After 19 years in farming I know how hard it is to ask for anything.
