Since 2021, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Saturday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 24 families, and now we feed 165 each week. Donations have dropped by about 54% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 16 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the New Delhi market and keep every receipt. Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $500 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $280 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $100 • Baby formula and diapers: $75 • Refrigeration and electricity: $45 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
