Ramesh was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in July. The surgeon at Chennai General Hospital recommended palate reconstruction surgery, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,150, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $900 short.
my son has been in and out of Chennai General Hospital since July. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without palate reconstruction surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,150 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Ramesh struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Ramesh won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.
Where the $900 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $390
• Hospital stay (4 nights): $230
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $80
• Post-operative medication: $25
• Physiotherapy sessions: $90
• Travel and lodging for the family: $85

Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Put this on a community board in The Hague this morning. Take care
Take care. This could happen to any of us. I'm in hospitality myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you.
Rooting for you, Radhika. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. God bless.
