Help Ramesh keep the Bread & Beans Kitchen pantry stocked
Help keep a free food pantry open for elderly neighbors in Mumbai.
🇮🇳 Mumbai, Maharashtra, India1,724 views
Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Tuesday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 22 families, and now we feed 216 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 56% this winter, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 13 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Mumbai market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $450 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $230
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $95
• Baby formula and diapers: $80
• Refrigeration and electricity: $45
With deep gratitude,
Ramesh
