Qasim is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying a degree in social work at Heliopolis University, and is one semester away from graduating. He has worked as a shop assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $500.
The registrar has said Qasim can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Qasim has a first-class average, and a professor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Qasim would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Qasim isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Heliopolis University bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $500 goes:
• Final term tuition: $310
• Outstanding tuition balance: $155
• Textbooks and materials: $35
