When the construction firm closed in July, Priscilla fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Wednesday a final eviction notice was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $500. The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by December, the family must leave. There are a teenager still in school at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
