Since 2022, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Saturday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 15 families, and now we feed 180 each week. Donations have dropped by about 60% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 14 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Surat market and keep every receipt. Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $550 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $260 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $190 • Baby formula and diapers: $60 • Refrigeration and electricity: $40 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

  • Thanks for sharing this, Prakash. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.

    • hope it all works out. Shared it with a few friends. God bless!

      • Hope it all works out. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Greetings from Pasig.
