Help Piper through 8 rounds of treatment for cervical cancer

Piper is facing cervical cancer and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

Piper was diagnosed with cervical cancer in June. The oncology team at Birmingham Regional Medical Center has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in August. She will be away from work for about 5 weeks. Piper is 35, worked as a bus conductor until June, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Birmingham Regional Medical Center 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $9,800 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $6,500 • Scans and lab work: $840 • Transport to Birmingham Regional Medical Center: $610 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $860 • Household costs while unable to work: $990 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

  • What exactly is the $9,800 for?

Chemotherapy and medication not covered is $6,500 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Good question.

  • Hope you get there. Put this on a community board in Lapu-Lapu this morning. All the best.

    • Good luck, Terry. I hope things turn around soon. Sent it to 22 people at work.
