Help Pedro keep the the Thursday Table pantry stocked
The the Thursday Table pantry in Springfield is running low just as demand rises; $3,150 will stock it for 9 weeks.
🇺🇸 Springfield, Illinois, United States797 views
Since 2023, our volunteer team has run the Thursday Table every Tuesday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 28 families, and now we feed 318 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 51% this summer, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 20 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Springfield market and keep every receipt.
Each $45 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $3,150 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,400
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $1,050
• Baby formula and diapers: $480
• Refrigeration and electricity: $220
Thank you so much.
- Pedro
Updates from Pedro
Quick update: $54 raised so far (2%). we've started the first stage. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
Good news. Because of your gifts ($154 in total) the plan for baby formula and diapers is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
Thank you all. We're at 1% now ($19). I'm honestly stunned. the first invoice got paid this week.

Take care, Pedro. Hope this works out for you. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. All the best
best of luck. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. I went through something like this 10 years ago and strangers helped me out. Blessings.
Rooting for you, Pedro. This could happen to any of us. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Blessings.
