Since 2022, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Saturday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 25 families, and now we feed 359 each week. Donations have dropped by about 41% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 17 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Los Angeles market and keep every receipt. Each $55 feeds a family of four for a week. I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday. Where the $1,050 goes: • Baby formula and diapers: $230 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $490 • Refrigeration and electricity: $330 With deep gratitude, Owen

Updates from Owen

  1. Thank you all. We're at 15% now ($153). I'm honestly stunned. the first invoice got paid this week.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($100 in total) I met with the wholesaler and confirmed the amounts. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
