Help Óscar keep the the Harvest Pantry pantry stocked
Help keep a free food pantry open for elderly neighbors in Madrid.
🇪🇸 Madrid, Madrid, Spain1,697 views
Since 2023, our volunteer team has run the Harvest Pantry every Saturday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 28 families, and now we feed 328 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 43% this winter, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 20 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Madrid market and keep every receipt.
Each $25 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $1,500 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $620
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $700
• Refrigeration and electricity: $180
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

This could happen to any of us. After 15 years in hospitality I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care.
