Nusrat was diagnosed with colon cancer in June. The oncology team at Cox's Bazar Cancer Centre has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in September. She will be away from work for about 7 weeks.
Nusrat is 56, worked as a primary school teacher until June, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Cox's Bazar Cancer Centre 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $700 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $420
• Scans and lab work: $120
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $55
• Household costs while unable to work: $105

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Nusrat!
Sure. The biggest one is chemotherapy and medication not covered, $420. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. It helps to be asked.
