Help Nova keep the the Second Helping pantry stocked
The the Second Helping pantry in Akron is running low just as demand rises; $3,000 will stock it for 11 weeks.

Since 2023, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Friday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 10 families, and now we feed 166 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 37% this winter, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 10 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Akron market and keep every receipt.
Each $50 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $3,000 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $960
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $1,350
• Baby formula and diapers: $370
• Refrigeration and electricity: $320

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Nova.
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale) comes first ($960) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Good question.
