Lucy, my sister, passed away on 17 February after complications from pneumonia. She was 41 years old. She was the heart of our family and had no savings or life insurance.
The funeral home has given us a quote of $3,550 and the cemetery needs payment before the burial date of 8 March.
I have already used what I had for the hospital bills. My family is scattered, and many of us are out of work. We want Lucy to have a dignified farewell.
Any help at all means a lot, and so do your prayers.
Anything left over after the funeral will be donated to a neighborhood youth program.
Where the $3,550 goes:
• Transport of the deceased: $550
• Funeral home services and casket: $2,700
• Memorial gathering for the family: $300
