Benjamin, my uncle, passed away on 23 September after a stroke. He was 81 years old. He was the heart of our family and had no savings or life insurance. The funeral home has given us a quote of $650 and the cemetery needs payment before the burial date of 4 October. I have already used what I had for the hospital bills. My family is scattered, and many of us are out of work. We want Benjamin to have a dignified farewell. Any help at all means a lot, and so do your prayers. Anything left over after the funeral will be donated to the Pasig hospice. Where the $650 goes: • Funeral home services and casket: $340 • Cemetery plot and burial fees: $195 • Transport of the deceased: $70 • Memorial gathering for the family: $45 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to. - Noel

  • thinking of you and your family, Noel. Gave what I could, wish it was more. After 21 years in teaching I know how hard it's to ask for anything.

    • Rooting for you. I hope things turn around soon. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected!

      • Shared this with my family. My father had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Greetings from Santos.

        • Thanks for sharing this. Your post was clear and honest. God bless!
