Njoroge needs $500 for filing fees and representation in a wrongful-eviction defense before the January deadline.

Njoroge is facing a wrongful-eviction defense. The hearing is scheduled for January, and the filing fees and the lawyer's retainer come to $500. Three legal-aid offices have said their waiting lists are longer than the deadline.
Njoroge has all the paperwork ready, and a caseworker at Embakasi Welcome Centre has confirmed that the case is valid.
If the deadline is missed Njoroge could lose the right to stay with the family and the job. The children were born here and this is the only home they know.
Funds cover only the filing fees, translations and attorney retainer.
Where the $500 goes:
• Attorney retainer: $300
• Filing and biometrics fees: $125
• Certified translations and document copies: $50
• Court-appointed interpreter and travel: $25
