The Bread & Beans Kitchen pantry in Kakamega is running low just as demand rises; $300 will stock it for 12 weeks.

Kakamega

Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Friday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 9 families, and now we feed 101 each week. Donations have dropped by about 31% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 12 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Kakamega market and keep every receipt. Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week. I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday. Where the $300 goes: • Refrigeration and electricity: $65 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $135 • Baby formula and diapers: $100 If you're reading this, thank you.
