Help Ngọc keep the Bread & Beans Kitchen pantry stocked
Help keep a free food pantry open for families facing hunger in Boston.

Since 2022, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Wednesday from the back of a community center. We started with 23 families, and now we feed 281 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 51% this summer, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 14 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Boston market and keep every receipt.
Each $40 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $2,250 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,200
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $890
• Refrigeration and electricity: $160

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Ngọc
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale) comes first ($1,200) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. It helps to be asked.
