Nevaeh was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in August. The surgeon at San Jose Orthopedic Institute recommended gallbladder removal, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $6,500, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $4,950 short. my daughter has been in and out of San Jose Orthopedic Institute since August. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without gallbladder removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $6,500 is more than we can find. While we wait, Nevaeh struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Nevaeh won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $4,950 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $2,100 • Hospital stay (3 nights): $1,400 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $440 • Post-operative medication: $250 • Physiotherapy sessions: $470 • Travel and lodging for the family: $290 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
