Since 2020, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Tuesday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 24 families, and now we feed 95 each week. Donations have dropped by about 37% this summer, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 19 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Nagpur market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $350 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $125 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $135 • Baby formula and diapers: $70 • Refrigeration and electricity: $20 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it. - Nazrul

Updates from Nazrul

  1. Thank you all. We're at 57% now ($199). I'm honestly stunned. the plan for fresh vegetables and fruit is now scheduled.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($154 in total) I made the first payment toward baby formula and diapers. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

It's all in the list in the story. rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale) is the big one at $125, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. It helps to be asked.
