Minato was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in July. The surgeon at Tokyo Orthopedic Institute recommended ACL reconstruction, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $5,750, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $2,900 short. my father has been in and out of Tokyo Orthopedic Institute since July. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $5,750 is more than we can find. While we wait, Minato struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
