Miles was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor in August. The surgeon at San Antonio Community Hospital recommended gallbladder removal, and He is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $8,000, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $5,950 short. my father has been in and out of San Antonio Community Hospital since August. The doctors say a benign brain tumor will get worse without gallbladder removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $8,000 is more than we can find. While we wait, Miles struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Miles won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $5,950 goes: • Post-operative medication: $260 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $3,750 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $520 • Hospital stay (3 nights): $1,420 I hope life is good to you. - Gianna
