Miguel was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst in August. The surgeon at Saint Luke Hospital recommended emergency hernia repair, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $6,750, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $5,100 short. my husband has been in and out of Saint Luke Hospital since August. The doctors say a large ovarian cyst will get worse without emergency hernia repair. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $6,750 is more than we can find. While we wait, Miguel struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Miguel won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $5,100 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $1,400 • Hospital stay (2 nights): $2,450 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $350 • Post-operative medication: $260 • Physiotherapy sessions: $410 • Travel and lodging for the family: $230 Thanks for reading all this. - Esperanza
