Mercy was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst in January. The surgeon at Machakos Regional Medical Center recommended laparoscopic cyst removal, and She is scheduled for April. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,800, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $1,250 short. my wife has been in and out of Machakos Regional Medical Center since January. The doctors say a large ovarian cyst will get worse without laparoscopic cyst removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,800 is more than we can find. While we wait, Mercy struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Mercy won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
